MEN’S FUTSAL PREMIER LEAGUE: ROUND 8

The much-anticipated meeting between Canberra City Prawns and league leaders Boomerangs FS Blue ended all square in the Men’s Futsal Premier League Round 8. Despite forty minutes of unrelenting action neither team could find a winner in a terrific contest that ended all square at 2-2. Stephen Domenic bagged his tenth goal of the season for the Prawns and Ryan Keir also found the net, but a double from Michael Reeve earned Boomerangs Blue a share of the spoils and leaves them one point clear at the top of the table. The Prawns stay third, a further four points behind.

The Untouchables kept up their challenge for the top spot by defeating Monaro Panthers Grey 7-2 in an exciting encounter. Aidan Brown and Brett Forward both scored twice for the Untouchables who moved to within a point of the summit of the table. Further goals from Patryk Bylinski, Sam Kennard and Lachlan Riddell meant that the Panthers Grey response, from Oscar Ignetik and Angus Paterson, was to no avail.

Weston-Molonglo Timberwolves are within touching distance of the top of the table after they dismantled Monaro Panthers Green 8-3. Daniel Barac netted twice to move onto ten goals for the season and there was also a brace of goals from Tony Aleksovski and Bobby Jovanovic. Grant Davoren and Vinnie Brasil added to the total. Panthers Green did manage goals from Thomas James, Zach Knight and Dragan Stegnjaic but their cause wasn’t helped by the dismissal of goal-scorer Knight in the second half.

Later on in the evening the Panthers Green also suffered defeat at the hands of Boomerangs FS White, 4-2, for whom Travis Dries starred throughout ending the match with a hat-trick and a personal tally of eight goals for the campaign to date. For the second match in a row the Panthers Green ended up a man light as Nathan Walker was dismissed for receiving two yellow cards. Earlier James and Stegnjaic had scored for Panthers with Misko Naumoski adding the other Boomerangs goal.
