Winter Futsal Academy Program

Boomerangs FS Unveil First Winter Futsal Academy
20 February, 2016 – Canberra, Australia

Demonstrating the club’s commitment to futsal, both in the ACT and nationally, Boomerangs FS is excited to announce its first ever F-League Academy Program which aims to provide a clear pathway for junior players in the ACT and region to the Boomerangs senior F-League teams and to national representation (for the men, the Futsalroos).

The Boomerangs F-League Academy Program will support players in most age groups with U12, U14, U16, U18 boys along with U13, U15, U18 girls and a specific Goalkeeper Academy (all ages). The first of its kind in the Nation’s Capital, and with hopes to build the program into a complete high performance system, the players will train once a week for 20 weeks between March and August with some of the country’s finest aspiring coaches.

The program will be centered on core individual technical and tactical skills required to participate at the highest levels and will be oversighted by two of Australia’s highest qualified coaches, Sam Smith and Kristian Collins, who both currently hold an AFC level 2 license.

“With our recent success in the NSWPL2 competition we thought it was time we introduce a year-round program for our players” Collins said. “To ensure continued success within the NSW competition, and nationally, it is important we have players training on a year round basis; this will ensure we can better develop our young aspiring young players. This program is an important first step towards that goal” he added.

Training sessions will be held on Monday, Friday, and Sunday evenings (with times to be confirmed) and participating players will be supplied with a Boomerangs F-League training Jumper.

Any players wishing to register interest in the program, or if there are any queries regarding the program, players are encouraged to get in contact via the CONTACT page. Squad sizes will be limited.
