What a Season!
Outstanding success for the Boomerangs Club both on and off the court during season 15/16 in one of the strongest futsal competitions in Australia.
Club Champions, two Minor Premiers, eight finalists, seven Grand Finalists and three Championship winners.
A superb effort by all players across all the nine teams (and including the ‘baby boomers’ development squads – 10/11 year olds).
Tremendous effort and work by the coaching staff across the whole season.
Dedicated contribution by the club volunteers – yet again.
Next season will provide yet another set of challenges as the club is promoted to the top tier competition, Premier League 1.

12 Boys
Final ladder position: 2nd

Grand Final loss to Hakoah (1-5)
Hakoah (Premiers) remained undefeated throughout the season and were the only team the Boomer boys could not defeat all season.
The 12 Boys put in a strong performance in their NSW PL2 Grand Final – the talented and disciplined Hakoah boys were just a bit too strong on the day. Photos of the match at http://bit.ly/1WRvDqW
13 Girls
Final ladder position: 2nd
Semi-final victory over Mt Druitt (4-0)
Grand Final victory over Mt Druitt (5-4)
Mt Druitt Town Rangers took home the Premiership
The 13 Girls successfully overcame their season long arch nemesis, Mt Druitt Town Rangers to take out the Grand Final, after Mt Druitt took the Minor Premiership on goal difference. The season’s spoils shared between these two teams. A great team effort by all the girls, but one that was made a bit easier by the goal-scoring star – Emma Illijoski, who scored four of the five goals in the 5-4 win. Grand Final loss to Phoenix Futsal (1-2)
Raiders Futsal won the season Premiership
The 15 Girls have had a terrific season (finishing second to a previously undefeated Raiders team), but in the Grand Final came up against a determined and in-form Phoenix, a team that won three elimination finals on the trot to take out the major prize. 16 Boys

Raiders Futsal – Premiers
The 16 Boys had a tremendous second half of the NSW PL2 season. After languishing in last place on the table with only a solitary win, they kicked into gear for the second half of the season – making the top four – playing two breathless elimination finals and making it to the Grand Final. Unfortunately the boys might have spent all their energy just getting to the biggest match of the season and couldn’t match Hakoah on the day. A tremendous season for the lads. 17 Girls

Grand Final loss to Hakoah (1-2)
The 17 Girls had a sensational FNSW PL2 competition, losing only one regular season game, and defeating Hakoah in the qualifying semi to earn a spot directly into the Grand Final. Hakoah took the longer route to the Grand Final, but learnt how to play tough uncompromising finals futsal, that just – only just – pipped the Boomers 17 Girls. Youth Men

Sydney City Eagles – Premiers
Over the past few years the Boomerangs Youth Men’s team (and earlier when they were 16s and 14s) could always be relied on to bring home a trophy or two a season. This time though, they thought they’d leave it till the death to win the match – so with just 25 seconds left, Ahmed Ugool earnt himself legendary status by scoring the winner. The crowd went wild – as did the players. The Sydney City Eagles were stunned, as they should have been – they had been a strong team all season and finished Premiers, but in the finals, the Boomers Youth Men cranked it up a gear. Open Women
Final ladder position: 1st (Premiers)
Semi-final victory over Mt Druitt (3-2)
Grand Final victory over Hakoah (Penalties [3-2] after 1-1 FT and 1-1 AET)
The Boomerangs Open Women’s team were the club’s standout team for season 15/16 in the NSW PL2 competition. Premiers, winning all but one of their regular season matches (and drawing the other), and conceding a miserly 11 goals in 12 matches while scoring 56. A single goal win over Mt Druitt in the qualifying semi saw them with direct entry to the Grand Final. Hakoah played out of their skins, and the Boomers women looked a little shell shocked. But after 1-1 full time and extra time scores, the penalty shootout decided the match. The first five pens converted….. a touch by keeper Jess Giovinazzo onto the post for the final penalty and the ladies bring home the Championship Trophy as a companion to the Premiership Trophy.
