The 13/14 NSW Premier League Futsal season has now ended and it is timely to put a full stop to the season that was.
Of the nine teams there were two eighth place finishers (14 Boys and Youth Men), three seventh place finishes (14 Girls, 16 Boys and Open Women), two sixth places (12 Girls and 16 Girls), a third place finish with the 12 Boys and a second placing with the Open Men – with the 12 Boys and Open Men making finals.
Of the 126 matches played across the 14 Rounds by the nine teams, the Boomerangs managed a total of 37 wins and 15 draws, for a total of 126 Club Championship points, a mere three points (one win) behind seventh place on the Club Championship table, Phoenix Futsal.
Final results for each team were as follows:
12 Boys

A vast improvement from 8th place in the 12/13 season. The boys made it to an elimination semi-final, which they lost (in a close, hard fought match) 2-1. Congratulations go to Zac Barbatano, who scored a competition high 24 goals from his 14 appearances – a terrific effort.
12 Girls

Sixth place for this team was an improvement of one spot on the ladder over the previous season. The competition was dominated this season by the top two teams, with the following three all strong. The girls finished 11 points away from from 4th spot.
14 Boys

For the 14 Boys, this was a disappointing season finishing in eighth spot with only two wins and two draws. Three teams dominated this age group, and another two battled out for the fourth spot. The boys ended up 10 points from 4th spot.
14 Girls

The 14 girls had a season they would likely want to forget, finishing one spot above cellar dweller Enfield. (They finished 20 points from 4th and a single win ahead of Enfield) Once again three teams dominated this age group, with the other three all fighting it out for the fourth spot.
16 Boys

The 16 Boys finished the season only two points behind fifth and sixth placed Dural and Inner West. The top four finished a clear way ahead of the bottom four and our boys were a distant 12 points from making 4th place and gaining a finals spot.
16 Girls

The 16 Girls finished a good 11 points from 4th position in a competition that saw the top two teams dominate and three teams fighting it out for the final two ‘finals’ spots.
Youth Men

The Youth Men competition was one of the closest seen in recent seasons across any age group. Just 11 points separated the top placed team from the last placed – and the top three teams could win no more than seven of their fourteen matches. Congratulations go to Thomas Zeitlhofer, who scored a competition high 15 goals from his 14 appearances.
Open Women

The Open Women’s competition was dominated by Quake with four other teams battling it out for the final three top four positions. The Women finished the season just eight points from 4th spot
Open Men

The Open Men’s team had a stellar season, leading the competition during the first half of the season before settling into second position behind Dural Warriors – where they finished (only 4 points from top spot). The Men’s team lost their qualifying semi-final to Dural, and their elimination preliminary final to Quake.
